1月の第3日曜日、11:00から福徳寺では柴燈大護摩祈願祭が行われました。空は晴れていましたが、時おり小雪がちらつく天候にも係わらず多くの人が参拝していました。境内では参拝者に暖かいお茶やぜんざいが振る舞われていました。

火渡りの行われる護摩壇は参拝者で周りが囲われており護摩壇の四方を破魔矢で清め(?)剣で邪気(?)が払われた後、火が放たれ点火されました。護摩壇の火はしばらく白煙で周りを覆ったあと激しく炎を上げて燃え上がり炎が収まったあと「護摩木」で更に炎が上がった内を「素足」で山伏装束の僧侶らが歩いて渡り「１年間無病息災」を祈願していました。一般の人も無病息災を願って火の納まった護摩壇を渡って行きました。
