◆いきいき堺市民大学卒業の同窓生の集いで今回は「堺の名産」を見学して来た。二か月に一度の集いでお互いの近況と親睦を深めている。
今回は阪堺線「花田口駅」近くの､梅栄堂さんの工場を見学させて頂いた。待合場所のお店には無造作に高価(9x万円の値札)な好文木が足元におかれていて驚いた。工場はちょっと離れた場所にあり,内に入ると､濃いお香の薫りがし､昔ながらの香木から粉を作る臼の様子や原料をブレンドから練り重ねなど一つ一つの工程を職人の方が手作業で行っておられました。此処では量産化出来ないお香などの一部の製品のみを造られているとの話しで､個人ではなかなか出来ない体験となりました。

◆此処から堺伝統産業会館に向かい刃物と緞通のイベントを見学した。
堺伝統産業会館の1階では伝統産業の展示販売と堺緞通の実演を見学することが出来ました。堺式手織緞通は完全な手作業の為､1時間に50mm程度しか織れないとの事でした。

◆堺の伝統刃物は京料理の職人に支えられて栄えてきたと、堺刃物の特徴である片刃物について､自らも伝統工芸士の資格を持つ味岡さんの説明を聞く事が出来ました。

◆堺刃物の「出刃包丁」のいわれについて古く､堺鏡(さかいかがみ)地誌に記載されているとのお話をききました。
◆通商産業大臣認定「伝統工芸士」味岡知行さん作品（教師をしていたとの事でお話が上手でした)
