◆11月末にごみ処理と分別についていずみ生協によるごみ問題企画の中で「ゴミ処理工場」の見学があり参加して来ました。堺市にはごみを燃やすことが出来る工場と粗大ごみを破砕する施設、燃えて出た灰を埋め立てる処理場他し尿処理をする浄化ステーションがありました。見学した「東第二工場」は東区にあり大泉緑地の東側に位置しています。

◆この敷地には昭和52年に建てられた「東第一工場」と平成9年に建てられた「東第二工場」がありました。東第二工場は環境に配慮したごみ処理施設としてごみを燃やした熱源で蒸気タービンを回して電気を作り工場内の電源及び隣接している「のびやか健康館」の電源として利用しているとのお話でした。更に余った電気は「関西電力」に電気を売っているそうです。この発電施設はごみ焼却熱による蒸気タービンと天然ガスを燃料とするガスタービンを組合せた「スーパーごみ発電」として高効率発電の工夫をしているそうです。
◆更に煙突からの煙は環境を守るため最新の設備によって自然に影響のない状態にして排出されるとの話でした。敷地の大半はこの為の設備に使われているそうです。
◆また東第二工場は堺で唯一、一般の人が粗大ごみの持込が可能で10kg/￥110で土日曜も行っているそうです。詳しくは堺市役所ＨＰで確認して下さい。
