◆「上神谷のこおどり」は雨乞いと五穀豊穣を祈る神事としてここ鉢ヶ峯寺地区に伝わっていて、堺市内で最も古い民俗芸能で国選択・大阪府指定無形民俗文化財に指定されています。
「こおどり」で、鬼神が背負う「ヒメコ」は、色とりどりの切掛紙を竹ひごに巻いたもので神が宿るとされ踊りの後、参拝者は門口にさし魔除けにする風習があります。
「雨を乞うおどり(こおどり)」を国神社で奉納をした後、おかげ節を歌いながら道中を練り歩き櫻井神社へ宮入し踊りを奉納します。

「こおどり」は通常１８人で踊るおどりだそうです。
こおどりは、音頭取り(しゃがんだ様子の者)に合わせて踊りが始まっていきます。
