◆この敷地には昭和52年に建てられた「東第一工場」と平成9年に建てられた「東第二工場」がありました。東第二工場は環境に配慮したごみ処理施設としてごみを燃やした熱源で蒸気タービンを回して電気を作り工場内の電源及び隣接している「のびやか健康館」の電源として利用しているとのお話でした。更に余った電気は「関西電力」に電気を売っているそうです。この発電施設はごみ焼却熱による蒸気タービンと天然ガスを燃料とするガスタービンを組合せた「スーパーごみ発電」として高効率発電の工夫をしているそうです。
◆更に煙突からの煙は環境を守るため最新の設備によって自然に影響のない状態にして排出されるとの話でした。敷地の大半はこの為の設備に使われているそうです。
