●南区アクティブカレッジの歴史体験で１３日午後１時半に「太田田根子の伝説地」の「陶荒田神社と三ツ池」を訪ねました。泉ヶ丘駅改札口前に集合し講師の桧本先生やサポーターのＭさん、Ｙさんと受講生19名が参加しました。泉ヶ丘プールを横切り田園公園内で班分けとレクチャーを受け散策を開始。
桧本先生を囲んで
●陶荒田神社に着く途中の「辻之地区」での休憩で、地域に広がった稲作の水についての話をうかがった。見野山や堺東高校あたりから深井駅方面にかけて「ため池」が多く、ため池から「はねつるべ」等を使って水をくみ上げて水源としていたとの事でした。
三つ池
●当日、「三つ池」周辺の水田ではコンバインによる稲刈りが行われていました。この「三つ池」は岸和田藩小出家の分家･陶器陣屋（陶器藩）の「小出三伊」らが舟遊びに興じたとも伝わっているとの事でした。
上之だんじり祭り
獅子噛（鬼版）
●陶荒田神社への途中で「上之だんじり」祭りについて「みやまえ橋事件」と言うエピソードについても話しがありました。又この陶器地区のだんじりは屋上でにらみを利かす「獅子噛（鬼版）」で大きな彫物が特徴の「上(ｶﾐ)だんじり」と呼ばれ、一方で岸和田が発祥とされる改良型を「下(ｼﾓ)だんじり」と呼ばれています。
陶荒田神社
●陶荒田神社は太田田根子命（おおたたねこのみこと）の子孫の荒田直（あらたのあたい）が祖先神をお祭りし、地名の陶巴（すえむら）と人名の荒田から陶荒田神社と呼ばれるようになった。平安時代の律令制度の「延喜式（えんぎしき）式内社」にも記載されています。
●太田田根子が第十代崇神天皇（すじんてんのう）の勅命により奈良の大神（おおみわ）神社をお祭りし世の中の乱れを鎮めたとされ、当初から陶巴（すえむら）－陶器郷－陶器村と呼ばれており、現在でも”陶荒田神社の杜”は「太田の杜（おたのもり）」「太田内（おたのうち）」と呼ばれています。
●また毎年10月第二日曜の例大祭には近隣の町々から「だんじり」の宮入もあり、大神（おおみわ）神社より代表が参列されるなど賑やかに行われるとの事。
