◆秋に「どんぐり」がなる「シリブカガシ」の実は、硬く磨くと黒く輝きクラフト等で良く利用されるとの事、また別名「いっちん」とも呼ばれ「いっちんクラブ」のシンボルにもなっています。またドングリは「おしり」が凹んでいるのが特徴です。

- お尻の凹みが特徴
◆クロバイ広場の「クロバイ」の木は黒の染料にも使われるそうです。ヤマガラ平から見はらし広場までは「西側は保護エリア」「東側は活用エリア」となる尾根みちを歩きます。見はらし広場から急なくだり道を「かがみ池」へと下ります。「かがみ池」には上神谷小学校の児童が「かわばたモロコ」を放流して飼育しているとの事でした。

◆さらに今後「赤松」の林として保護中の里みちを経て、東のおじいさん(シリブカガシの老木)を通って、「農作業体験活動」の場となっている畑、田のエリアから「森の館」へとおおよそ２時間のウォーキングを楽しみました。因みに黒松の松葉先は手で触ると針のように痛いが赤松は痛く無いそうです。（一部の画像は「六甲山の自然を学ぼう会の神戸・六甲山系の森林」から利用）http://www.rokkosan-shizen.jp/

◆シリブカガシは和泉地方の古代の植生を残しており、環境庁の「緑の国勢調査」(1984)でもその価値の高さと保護の必要を述べています。大阪では、堺市の美多弥神社（大阪府天然記念物指定）にされています。
「シリブカガシ」の花は９月に咲き、実は11月に熟し、落ちた実はシイの実などのように食べられるそうです。
