●９月２６日（日）「国の史跡・土搭」の特別公開と「堺の宝 土搭の文字瓦」をテーマにした講演会（主催：堺市文化財課）がありました。まず午前中に「土搭（堺市中区土塔町）」（関連記事５月９日参照）を見学する。特別公開では土搭の頂上部が開放されて、多くの人たちが登っていました。係員による土搭の構造、文字瓦、歴史の説明があり、瓦や写真の展示もありました。
●午後には「ソフィア堺」（堺市中区深井清水町）で講演会がありました。①「土搭の文字瓦」について、近藤康司氏（堺市文化財課）から、文字瓦の分析、文字の内容、文字瓦の意味するもの等の説明がありました。土搭から１０００点を越す人名瓦が出土していること。これらは、行基が土搭を建立するに際し協力した人々であると考えられるという。
②「古代の文字瓦」と題して上原正人氏（京都大学教授）の講演がありました。文字瓦の意味として、作り瓦を記念した年号・作者などを記した文字瓦、工人の賃金支給・労務管理に関わること、瓦を寄進する仏教的作為行為＝知識にかかわる文字瓦等があるとのこと。文字瓦の造瓦工房の変遷、知識瓦の系譜～行基の活動から寄付の強要へ～等の話がありました。
●次に③「史跡土搭出土文字瓦の歴史的意義」について、栄原永遠男氏（大阪市立大学名誉教授）の講演です。・「氏寺」と言う用語、・古代寺院と氏族、・土搭の知識と行基の活動等について語られました。その中で土搭の人名瓦から、行基は各地の知識集団のネットワークを形作っていったことが明らかになったという。行基４９院の中でも人名瓦が出土されたエリアとそうでないところがあり、行基の知識集団は伸縮自在の組織であり、それぞれの判断で行基の呼びかけに加わったのではないかとのこと。（「知識」とは、仏教用語で財物や労力などで寄進し仏と縁を結ぶことを言う。近藤氏レジュメより）
